| This young Sydney band have produced a surprise package with this, their debut CD for new local indie Dharma Records [it's the label's first release as well]. Only saxophonist Jason Cooney is known to me through his work with Mike Nock, but the playing of the rhythm section - drummer Dave Sanders and bassist Michael Galeazzi - shows plenty of interaction and swing. |
Pianist Henri Peipman, though sounding less secure at faster tempos, comps intelligently and produces some nicely weighted solos. Jason Cooney solos with confidence and imagination every time, never overplaying while at the same time showing a fine sense of structure.

On the evidence of his five originals, Galaezzi is a composer with considerable talent who deserves encouragement. -- ALAN BROOKING - On The Street. More Reviews > |
